Local Distribution: Atlantic slope below 700 m.

Diversity: 1 species (N. watsonii).

Comments: Seen above 700 m elevation in our region only on the Atlantic slope in the drainage of the Rio Esperanza, but occurs higher in some other sites in the Cordillera de Tilaran. The uniform leaflets, unbranched inflorescence and apical residual stigma make this a unique palm in our area.
