Male identification:

  • Eyes red in life, face metallic wine-red.
  • Underside of head black with a narrow cream stripe along eye margin.
  • Wings transparent; antenodal cells 5, 4.
  • Thorax with a narrow sky-blue antehumeral stripe, mesepimeron unmarked.
  • All abdominal segments mostly blue on dorsum, except S7 has only a basal blue triangle.

Female identification:

  • Labrum metallic purple-black on basal third, brown on distal third, postclypeus metallic purple-black with a pair of tiny lateral spots.
  • Thorax with a wide sky-blue antehumeral stripe.
  • Underside of head black with a narrow cream stripe along eye margin.
  • Dorsum of S8-9 brown with a pair of black bullet marks, S10 all blue.

Habitat: Large slow rivers.

Abundance: Rare.
