Male identification:

  • Markings on head and thorax orange.
  • S8-9 variable, ranging from all black, except for blue on dorsum of intersegmental membranes to entirely blue on sides and dorsum.
  • S10 with a low forked horn.

Female abdomen length: 24.0

Female hind wing length: 17.0

Local distribution: Eastern lowlands.

Habitat: Sunny spots on swampy pools and small streams in forested areas.

Abundance: Common.

Species range: Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia
