Local distribution: Eastern lowlands at 90 - 400 m.

Habitat: Small forest streams, on average smaller and more enclosed by vegetation than M. drepane, but they do overlap.

Abundance: Uncommon.

Species range: Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru
