Male identification:

  • Postclypeus black.
  • Stigma lacking.
  • Red spot on hindwing tip.
  • Lower appendage long and narrow with an incurved tooth at tip.

Female identification:

  • Stigma absent.
  • Thoracic stripes metallic green to almost black.
  • Postclypeus black to metallic purple-red.

Similar species:

Male abdomen length: 35.0

Male hind wing length: 25.0-26.0

Local distribution: Lowlands on both slopes.

Habitat: Small clear streams in forest.

Abundance: Uncommon.

Species range: Nicaragua to Panama, South America
