Male identification:

  • Face dark brown, eyes green and meeting at a point.
  • Thorax with two bold yellow stripes.
  • Abdomen black with yellow bands and spots.

Female identification:

  • Similar to male.

Size: Very large

Body length: 76.0-78.0

Local distribution: Cloud forest at 1500 to 1600 m.

Habitat: Small, slow streams in cloud forest.

Species range in Middle America: Mexico, Costa Rica
