Male identification:

  • Labrum red.
  • Inferior appendage longer than superior and pointed.

Female identification:

  • Mostly tan.
  • Top of head all black.
  • Prothorax with a pair of dorsal horns.
  • Top of thorax with black center stripe, sides tan.

Size: Medium

Body length: 30.0-37.0

Local distribution: Atlantic lowlands to 600 m. Pacific slope to 1200 m.

Habitat: Temporary pools and marshy wetlands in open.

Species range in Middle America: Mexico, Guatemala to Panama
