Male identification:

  • Wings clear.
  • Top of abdomen all sky blue.
  • Lower appendage with two shallow lobes.

Female identification:

  • Dorsum of S8 entirely pale; S10 all black.
  • Wings clear.

Size: Medium

Body length: 36.0-38.0

Local distribution: Both slopes from 700 to 1600 m.

Habitat: Clear-running streams and rivers.

Species range in Middle America: Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, South America
