Male identification:

  • Mostly blue on thorax and abdomen.
  • S8-9 also blue on sides.
  • Lower appendage with an elongate, pointed tip.

Female identification:

  • Dorsum of thorax and abdomen mostly pale.
  • A pair of short stripes on dorsum of S9.
  • Wings clear.

Size: Medium

Body length: 33.0-37.0

Local distribution: Both slopes from 500 to 1500 m.

Habitat: Small streams, isolated ponds, and marshy spring seeps in open areas.

Species range in Middle America: Guatemala to Panama
