Male identification:

  • Mostly blue.
  • S7 all black, S8-10 blue on top and sides.
  • Wings with yellow tint.
  • Appendages short.

Female identification:

  • Dorsum of thorax and abdomen mostly pale. Dorsum of S8 without prominent black markings.
  • Wings shaded yellow.

Size: Medium

Body length: 37.0-40.0

Local distribution: Both slopes from 600 - 1450 m.

Habitat: Isolated ponds and marshy parts of streams in open areas.

Species range in Middle America: Mexico, Guatemala to Costa Rica
