Male identification:

  • Stigma taller than wide.
  • Very large postocular spots.
  • A pointed horn on dorsum of S10.
  • Pale markings on underside of abdomen.
  • Teneral: uniformly dull orange.

Female identification:

  • Similar to male, but S8 with pale dorsum.
  • Teneral: uniformly dull orange.

Size: Small

Body length: 33.0-35.0

Local distribution: Pacific slope from 1000 - 1400 m; Atlantic slope at 500 - 800 m.

Habitat: Spring seeps, roadside ditches, and marshy ponds in sunny areas.

Species range in Middle America: Mexico, Guatemala to Costa Rica
