Male identification:

  • Stigma lacking.
  • Red spot on hindwing tip.

Female identification:

  • Stigma absent.
  • Thoracic stripes metallic green to almost black.
  • Postclypeus black to metallic purple-red.

Size: Medium

Body length: 42.0-48.0

Local distribution: Lowlands to 200 m; only seen on the Pacific side.

Habitat: Small clear streams in forest.

Species range in Middle America: Nicaragua to Panama, South America
