Male identification:

  • Thorax with two bold lateral stripes with kinks.
  • Abdomen dark with minimal blue and green markings.

Female identification:

  • Similar to male, but lacks blue trim on S2.
  • Base of wings amber-tinted into the triangle.

Size: Large

Body length: 60.0-65.0

Local distribution: Pacific slope and cloud forest at 1300 to 1600 m.

Habitat: Isolated pools and slow streams in forest.

Species range in Middle America: Mexico, Guatemala to Panama, South America
