Male identification:

  • Thorax brown with two thin yellow-green lateral stripes.
  • Two sky blue dorsal spots.

Female identification:

  • Mostly red-brown.
  • Side of thorax with two dull stripes.

Size: Large

Local distribution: Atlantic lowlands.

Habitat: Lowland rainforest ponds and swamps.

Species range in Middle America: Honduras, Costa Rica, South America
