  • Commelina debilis, C. willdenowii

  • Flowers have two paired blue upper petals, and one lower white petal that is quite small and therefore inconspicuous. As the common name suggests, these flowers fade by the end of the day on which they open.

The Habitat:

  • disturbed areas
  • pond shores

  • On Nantucket, this species is often found around pond shores. Further investigation is required to determine whether it might pose a threat to pond shore plants.
