Abundance
  Sexes disimilar.
  Male: forewing mostly black with orange brown near base, two lines of yellow-orange marks in distal half and orange submarginal spots.
  Hindwing orange-brown without central bar; pale spots within black border (larger below).
  Female: larger than male with a black and a yellow spot in forewing discal cell.

Local distribution: 58-65 mm

Local distribution: Not recorded from the Monteverde region.

Species range: Southern Costa Rica to Colombia

Comments: Known on the Pacific slope from the Peninsula de Osa to the San Vito area (0-1000 m).
