Abundance
  Male and female similar.
  Forewing black with orange at base, two rows of cream marks in distal half.
  Hindwing with central black bar and pairs of white spots within black border.
  Underside similar, but the colors are duller.

Local distribution: Both slopes from lowlands to about 1500 m.

Species range: Mexico to Brazil, Antilles

Comments: As a common migrant through Monteverde, this species can be seen much higher in elevation than its breeding habitat.
