Identification
  - Leaves simple, alternate, entire, spiraled.
  - With stipules.
  - Large white tubular flowers with exserted style and stamens.
  - Fruit a slender woody capsule with winged seeds.

Diagnosis: Herbs and shrubs, one tree species on dry Pacific slope (Hauya) with small free stipules, leaves spiraled, simple, alternate, entire, sunken midvein, large tubular white flowers.

Similar families
Opiliaceae: few strongly ascending lateral veins, blade poorly separated from short petiole.
Proteaceae: sparse marginal teeth, few strongly ascending lateral veins, strong odor.
Sapotaceae: white latex, no stipules.

Diversity: Total: 3 genera, 5 species. Trees: 1 genus, 1 species.
