Identification
  - Leaves simple, opposite, entire.
  - Translucent dots containing aromatic oils.
  - Flowers with 4-5 free petals and many stamens.
  - Fruits fleshy with one or a few seeds (more in Psidium).

Diagnosis: Trees, aromatic odor of essential oils, without stipules, leaves simple, opposite, entire, with translucent yellow dots.

Similar families
Loranthaceae(Gaiadendron): no translucent dots.
Monimiaceae: margin serrate, stellate hairs.
Oleaceae: no translucent glands.
Rhizophoraceae: interpetiolar stipules present.
Verbenaceae: twigs angular, interpetiolar ridge.

Diversity: Total: 8 genera, 31 species. Trees: 8 genera, 29 species.
