Identification
  - Leaves simple, alternate, entire.
  - Dark, almost black bark on trunk.
  - Petioles long with double pulvinus.
  - Tiny yellow-green flowers on axillary inflorescences.
  - Fruit a drupe.

Diagnosis: One dry forest trees species, outer bark black, without stipules, leaves simple, alternate, entire, tipped up, venation pinnate, petioles with double pulvinus and variable in length.

Similar families
Araliaceae: inconspicuous stipules, weakly 3-veined, usually crenate.
Capparidaceae: inconspicuous stipules, twigs slender.

Diversity: Total: 5 genera, 8 species. Trees: 1 genus, 1 species.
