Diagnosis: Wet forest trees, bark fibrous, stipules small and deciduous, triangular with a thread-like apical point, leaves distichous, simple, alternate, weakly crenate, lateral veins curve upward and weakly connect near margin, short parallel intersecondary veins, finely reticulate tertiary veins, one species barely reaches our area (Eschweilera).
